I picked mum up late morning to get set off on the 3 hour drive to Knebworth. Despite selecting the route on my phone which would avoid the dreaded M25 it decided to take me that way anyway. Thanks Siri! I don’t think that me and mum have spent any quality time together as just us two in my adulthood. That’s a shocking admission I know! Life kept on getting itself in the way and it was part of the reason I wanted mum to move closer to me.

The long drive was a great opportunity to have a chat, well when we weren’t trying to blow the car speakers with Metallica’s ‘Metallica’ (black) album blaring out at full volume.

We arrived and duly got shouted at by the parking attendants, drove to the wrong end of the field, drove back through insanely long grass and eventually to a waiting area so we could change our tickets for disabled access ones. Around 8 weeks beforehand mum had major surgery and therefore couldn’t stand up for the duration of the concert. Now I’m not used to pushing wheelchairs, especially across a bumpy field. On our way in the blazing sun to the box office I hit a divot. I like to think of it more like a trench than a divot though. It sort of resulted in me catapulting my mother out of the chair and onto the hard ground. It was possibly one of the funniest moments I’ve experienced and we were both doubled up laughing.
